First Annual Day of Wine and Poodles

In what turned out to be the only clear, sunny, dry day in a rainy March, BAPR had our first-ever Day of Wine and Poodles event at Red Feather Winery in Livermore on March 12. We held the event outdoors in a field that had a spectacular view of the green hills and vineyards that surround the winery. The weather was perfect! The event was attended by 89 people and their dogs, both poodle and non-poodle. There was a tasting bar and hors d’oeuvre, and participants got a gold coin that also let them into the tasting room to taste additional wines. All participants received a commemorative wine glass with our logo and the winery’s logo.

We had a costume contest for the dogs. The winner was a poodle dressed as a bunch of grapes; second place was won by a Havanese sporting red feathers, and third place was won by a poodle sporting a Continental clip with green shamrocks as part of the clip.

During the event, we had an ongoing raffle and silent auction. The dogs had a wonderful time running around and playing with each other, or just hanging out with their people. Everyone seemed to have a great time. We intend to make this an annual event.

Our volunteer Susan took terrific photos, which can be viewed here.
